Actaully a large number of dubs head from cold climates to Mexico on the premise of going to where the need is great....in reality it is great to go where there is no need.

"Go Where the Need is Great" - Is this phrase unique to JW's only???
by AudeSapere in"go where the need is great"... it's one of those jw buzz-words/phrases.
almost like a secret code that just pops up in what would otherwise be a 'normal' conversation.. .
i was conducting an interview with a candidate this afternoon and she used this phrase when explaining that she travelled to various locations of a previous employer.

i am asking this question because jehovah's witnesses claim they have "the best way of life", "god's blessing", "the truth" and are trying to change the habits of healthy people by turning them in to their own makings.
i watched people who were great athletes turn all their muscle in to fat because we would get a elder or circuit overseer make remarks they were spending too much time "working out" and "bodily training is beneficial for little".

At my peak of dubdum I was a bloated 290lbs at 5'10". I left in 2010 and stopped self medicating with food to address my anxiety/stress-of-trying-to-please-everyone/stay-at-home-and-eat-because-there-is-nothing-else-I-am-allowed-to-do syndrome. I am now 228 and on my way to a target of 210, enjoy eating very well, enjoy just taking a damn walk on Saturday morning, Sunday at 1pm and Wednesday evening or whenever I feel like it.
Many are on anti-depressants and Prozac derivatives to combat what the religion does to you (nothing against ones taking these medications when they can'ty control what affects them) others like me and my wife used food, others use alcohol and I know of some that were drug users while dubs but gave it up after leaving. My retired Dr said he had a significant amount of dubs that were heavily medicated or were alcoholics - way more than the background percentage of the population should show otherwise.
Love of God and his love of us would never hurt anyone - its what religion does that hurts.

There is absolutely no correctlation between head (cranial) size and brain size, futher there is no correlation between brain size and intelligence. Hoever there is a correlation between the "heads" at the GB and intelligence.

JWs at the Edinburgh Festival
by passwordprotected inmy girlfriend and i took the train through to edinburgh to soak in the atmosphere and catch a few free comedy shows at the fringe festival.. almost immediately i spotted them; jw.org witnesses.. how did i know it was them?.
well, the middle-aged, tall man wearing the suit, shirt and tie was a big clue.
that and the fact that he was holding the hand of a similarly tall, middle-aged woman, dressed in the jw uniform of long skirt, blouse and light summer jacket.

Why the change? I recall from my years in (1985 - 2009) that standing on street corners with an Awake!/Watchtower pinned to your chest was frowned upon - how can this be nulight? sounds regressive to me. BTW: passed some former dubs on a street corner on my way out to a fun filled family picnic at a provincial park on the weekend...

by OUTLAW in.. the new wbt$ donation arrangement/ jw kingdom hall bank account theft... is a very hot topic right now... the wbt$ is literally going to clean out kingdom hall bank accounts,filled with donations from jws... that theft is going to happen world wide..the wbt$ is going to steal from 7 million plus jw`s... .. we have jw elders here on jwn,that know whats going on... they "serve" in kingdom halls,they are "supposed" to be looking after the welfare of the average jw... they know there is a 4 page letter,only one page will be read to the congregation..the rest will be kept secret... they know the wbt$ is about to steal jw donations..on a world wide scale!!!...
.. i would like to know what you active jw elders are going to do about this??!!...
are you going to let "your" congregation know about the other 3 secret pages?...

2014! Why are we still here? 100 years since Jesus came back according to JWs.
by tenene inhello, i have been offline for quite some time and i know this might have been discussed a great deal, but its burning me, hence i am raising this issue again.
this is also to help the newbies and lurkers.
i thought the 1914 generation would have long passed by at this point and time, and believe they have come up with a new spin to the whole generation issue.
